I tried replugging the hard disk to make sure the connector wasn't loose or anything, but that didn't seem to fix the problem. I have a Seagate Backup plus 4TB and on Window 7 this disk passes the generic long test but not the generic short test (always fails during the begining of internal analysis). If you choose Repair All, the 'Long Generic' test will scan the entire drive after pressing the F8 key and attempt to repair unreadable sectors.
